About Low T (Low Testosterone)

What is low T?

Testosterone is a hormone naturally produced by the body that affects men’s sex drive, muscle growth, bone mass, mental health, and more.

After age 30 the body’s testosterone level begins to decline, leading to a number of unwanted effects.

Reliable clinical research shows that 1 in 4 men over 30 have a low testosterone level.

How long does Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy take to notice the effects?

Every patient's hormone profile and, therefore their hormone optimization is unique.

Generally, Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) performed with long-acting pellets takes effect in around 7-10 days after pellet insertion.

Among the benefits of bio-identical hormone therapy via pellets is the consistency of the dose of Bio-Identical hormones delivered to the bloodstream.

Most patients report some symptom relief in as little as 2-4 weeks, though full optimization may take up to 6 months.

We customize your individual hormone needs and optimize the program for you to ensure you get the best results possible.

What is the goal of Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a treatment for some of the most common and debilitating symptoms associated with aging that are not conventionally addressed by traditional healthcare providers.

Symptoms such as fatigue, stress, foggy thinking, muscle loss, fat gain, loss of sex drive and sleep disturbances are some of the most common concerns we see from our patients.

The goal of BHRT is to address the root cause of these symptoms by optimizing hormone levels.

BHRT is a natural and simple method for successfully addressing hormone imbalance in men with scientific backing from the biomedical literature.

What exactly happens during Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement with the pellet system?

During the in-office visit, you are taken into a comfortable exam room where the pellet insertion site on your skin is cleaned, prepped and numbed.

The most common site of pellet insertion is the upper buttock.

Once numb, a small incision is made for the pellets to be inserted. After the pellets are properly placed, the insertion site is covered with a small bandage.

The procedure takes about 15 minutes from beginning to end.

How often do I need a Hormone Replacement pellet treatment?

Your body's physiology is unique, and your experience will be unique.

Most patients have pellets placed 3-4 times per year for optimal results.

How do you treat low T?

The only way to treat Low T is to replace your testosterone and restore it to the level where it should be.

Our Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) program is a safe and effective treatment option that restores testosterone and other necessary hormones to optimal levels for health, well-being and performance.

What are the advantages of performing hormone therapy with pellets?

Pellet therapy is simple and easy for you. The procedure takes less than 15 minutes. That means less risk of complications.

Pellets are inserted just under the skin of the gluteal (buttock) area 3-4 times per year depending on your body's physiologic need. That means you get unprecedented customization of the hormone levels your body needs to balance and achieve optimal results.

You don’t have to worry about applying creams, so your loved ones are safe to touch you without the risk of transferring hormone to a person that might not need it.

You don't have to daily oral medication so beyond being more convenient, this means that your body does not need to convert a synthetic hormone to something usable. You get the identical hormone that your body naturally makes.

Is there any special preparation I need to do for the procedure?

It is recommended to stop taking medications that thin the blood such as NSAIDs, aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, naproxen sodium, etc., one week prior to the procedure.

If you are on a medical regimen that requires you to take any of these daily, you should consult with the physician.

You do not need to fast or change your diet in advance of the procedure.

Are there any tests required before beginning treatment with Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

A comprehensive blood panel is required prior to treatment with Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, and can be discussed with a physician at Male Vitality Center.

What can I and can't I do for the week following the pellet placement?

After pellet insertion, it's best to eliminate intense lower body exercise like running and cycling. You can, however, walk at a leisurely pace.

Excessive, high-intensity exercise is not recommended. You should avoid swimming, hot tubs, and bathtubs.

You can shower 24 hours following the procedure. After removal of the bandage, you can resume your normal activities.
